Reflections on Writing, Music, Technology, and Everything

Bespelled

- Steve Beisner

A poem, composed, lost for a long time, and found again. A satisfying post Covid surprise.

After nary so much as a pair of words, this, in sixty seconds. Strange.
-- Steve Beisner

I had received a Gift.
a trifle it was,
acknowledged at the time,
as something unexpected but for which one is grateful.

Lost then, to the Important,
as acknowledged by all,
or to the Unknown,
who none have heard of.

The sieve of ideas, of art,
is the imperfect advocate,
a fuzzy decider of what is remembered.

Another universe -- a later time,
easily skipped over,
or completely undetected.

But when realities align
I find again the Gift,
its artfully aimed healing assuaging the soul's need.

The combination
is as it was
always intended to be.

Time is an always unlisted component
of every effective spell,
and of all lives.

From Brian Lindberg:

time...one of the intriguing aspects...functions... of the dimension of time is 'serendipity' (of Serendip). I have been trying, of late, to view all inputs through a lens of 'karma'...serendipity is an easy one. So...before i read this, i had just read one of Emily Dickinson's fine ruminations, of time and duration ('eternity', her word), and Bespelled seemed to be dancing to a like tune...a dervish tune...
